AMC leadership extends thanks to those of you who have contributed in any
way to the growth, health and effectiveness of the AMC as a tool in the hand
of the Lord.

Welcome, Dr.
Herts, to the AMC Board!
The AMC is happy to announce that Dr. Michael Herts, Congregational Leader
of B'nai Avraham Messianic Fellowship of Hampton/Newport News, Virginia, has
accepted an invitation to join the AMC Board, effective January, 2008.
Dr. Herts grew up in a
Conservative Jewish home and has been a Messianic Jew since the Spring of
1981. He has held leadership roles in various congregational settings and
has had the privilege of preaching and doing Passover presentations in
congregations from North Carolina to the Pennsylvania border. He is the
husband of a recently retired United States Air Force colonel and physician,
and the father of three wonderful children. Dr. Herts earned a Doctor of
Psychology in Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) and Master of Education (M.Ed.),
and is a licensed clinical psychologist with a practice in the Hampton Roads
area of Virginia. |

ONGOING PRAYERS
Salvation in
Israel
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: May they prosper who love you. (Psalm
122:6)
If I forget you, O Jerusalem, may my right hand forget its skill. If I do
not remember you, let my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth; if I do not
prefer Jerusalem above my chief joy. (Psalm 137:5-6)
Pray for the salvation of all Israel (Isaiah 59:20, Romans 11:26), at
which time Messiah, Prince of Peace, will return (Hosea 5:15; Matthew 23:39).
The Believing Remnant
in Israel
Pray that the Lord will increase the witness and fruitfulness of His
faithful in Israel.
Sound Doctrine
and Practice
Pray for the establishment of sound doctrine and practice in Messianic
circles and in the church at large, especially in regards to the essentials
of the faith, Israel and the Jews.
Member Ministries and Individual Members
Pray that the Lord will grant congregation and ministry leaders wisdom,
skill, strength and protection "for the perfecting of the saints, for the
work of the ministry, for the building up of the body of Messiah"
(Ephesians 4:12). Pray that AMC members who are not members of Messianic
congregations draw strength from the Lord and likeminded believers to hold
steadfast in their convictions and move forward in their outreach. Pray that
all Messianic congregations, ministries and individuals stand firm and
glorify God in their outreach despite opposition by highly organized
antimissionary organizations. Pray that, as Saul, many anti-missionaries
would see the Light and zealously proclaim the faith they now seek to
destroy (Gal 1:23).
AMC Board
Pray that the Lord will grant continued vision, wisdom, skill, strength and
spiritual protection to the members of our board. Pray specifically for Steve Shermett, President; Pete Koziar, Vice President; Mottel Baleston,
Secretary, and Dr. Michael Herts, who'll be joining the Board in January.
The Church
Pray that the Lord would open the eyes of the church to bless, and not
curse, Israel (Genesis 12:3); that is, to lead Israel to their Messiah and
to love them as they love themselves (Matthew 19:19) with special regard to
Israel's chosenness among the nations (Romans 1:16).
Antisemitism
Pray that the Lord will stand against anti-Semitism in all of its forms,
whether it be rabbinic (anti-gospel), doctrinal, social, academic,
journalistic, political or economic.

Pray that the Lord would continue to use
www.messianicassociation.org for the fulfillment of AMC's call in His
Name. Pray that He will grant webmaster Mottel Baleston vision, wisdom,
skill, strength and spiritual protection in the carrying out of his call.
The Shofar
Pray that the Lord will use this email magazine, The Shofar, for the
fulfillment of AMC's call in His Name. Pray that He will grant Shofar staff
vision, wisdom, skill, strength and spiritual protection in the carrying out
of their duties.

IMMEDIATE NEEDS
Israel
Dissatisfaction and Corruption Within
An April 20 poll conducted by
Israeli newspaper Arutz Sheva revealed a 3% approval rating for Prime Minister Ehud Olmert,
and it seems that his public approval keeps dropping. Investigations are
ongoing concerning immoral acts and crimes that PM Olmert allegedly
committed, and great segments of the population oppose his intentions to
cede Judea and Samaria (West Bank) and East Jerusalem, including the Temple
Mount, to a future Palestinian state.
Threats from Without
Hamas has captured a "king's ransom" of intelligence
information in its Gaza takeover. Hezbollah is rearming in Lebanon. Al Qaeda is working in Gaza
and Lebanon. It has been reported that Syria is building itself up militarily for
a war on Israel's cities. Iran's efforts to attain nuclear capability continue unabated. It has widely been reported that Israel's air force is carrying out
training mission to bomb Iran's nuclear reactor "if diplomatic actions
fail."
Pray for the Lord’s protection for
Israel and its citizens and for integrity and wisdom for its leaders. Pray
that the Messianic believers in Israel will continue to be a growing witness
to the peace that comes only through Messiah Yeshua.
The Persecuted Remnant
in Israel
Pray for the protection and fruitfulness of those
of the Lord's faithful in Israel who are presently under persecution. Pray
especially for the Lord's faithful in Arad, upon whom Satan has been unleashing his
venom. See

A. The AMC, a member congregation or an individual member.
Q. What types of prayer and praise proclamations are
sought?
A. * Ministry oriented, not individual needs oriented, though urgent prayer requests for individuals are welcomed.
* For Jewish people witnessed to, but not in such a
way as to reveal their identity without their
permission.
* Prayers for Israel or Jewish communities anywhere in the world.
* Praise proclamations for answers to prayer that fit into the
categories described herein.
Q. What are the submission parameters?
* Send prayers that will still be current at the next publication
date. Publication dates are the 1st of March,
June, September and December.
* Limit total submissions to 100 words. Exceptions will be made at the discretion of the editorial staff.
* Submissions must be received a month
before the next publication date. Exceptions may be made.
* Submissions will be published, edited or returned for editing at the discretion of the editorial staff.
* Similar submissions may be combined by the editing staff into one prayer or praise proclamation.
