Spiritual Talking Heads

Shalom. My name is Barri Cae. I was raised in a Jewish home and was saved in 1980
in my cousin's Jewish delicatessen. To God be all the glory. Shalom.

Turn on any television or internet news broadcast and you will find a newscast that is of your political/religious/social persuasion. Talking heads abound these days.
In this rapidly changing (and may I add deteriorating) socio-political landscape, it can be disheartening at times to find an encouraging word. Whether news is about bombings, wars, famines, wildfires, typhoons, we seem to be bombarded with negatives.
There truly is only one answer during times like these: draw near to God. Pull out His word, read it and ponder it. Read about ‘spiritual talking heads’.
The first spiritual talking head is Daniel, whose given name means God is My Judge. But because he lived in a heathen country, Babylon, he had to have his name changed. This was a type of brainwashing, associating a person with a certain name. When tempted with the heathen king’s delicacies, Daniel made up his mind that he would not defile himself (Daniel 1:8). God blessed his obedience and God gave him knowledge and intelligence in every branch of literature and wisdom (Daniel 1:17). Even though Daniel found himself in the midst of heathen Babylon, heathen Babylon was not found in him. He stayed strong in God. Daniel made godly decisions and God blessed him.
Even though the three Hebrew boys found themselves in the fiery furnace, the fire had no affect on them (Daniel 3:27). Daniel was appointed to high office, officers conspired against him and he found himself sleeping with lions. Yet God sent His angel who shut the lions' mouths and they never harmed him (Daniel 6:22).
No matter how things work in this wicked world, no matter what ungodly world decisions are made, God will ultimately vindicate His own people against the proud and wicked who oppress them.
Joseph is a wonderful example of a spiritual talking head. Joseph was the son of Jacob, yet his brothers hated him and sold him into slavery (Gen. 37). He was unjustly imprisoned in Egypt (Gen. 39). As this was an ungodly heathen country, the prison sure was not like our American prisons equipped with the internet and gymnasium. Yet while in prison, Joseph interpreted dreams and he won Pharaoh’s attention (Gen. 41). Even though he found himself in an ungodly place, the ungodly place never got into Joseph. God blessed him for his obedience.
Moses was a good spiritual talking head. God works best in the darkness. The children of Israel were trapped. Egypt was quickly pursuing from the rear; the Red Sea was before them. The angel of God, who had been going before the camp of Israel, moved and went behind them; and the pillar of cloud moved from before them and stood behind them. So it came between the camp of Egypt and the camp of Israel; and there was the cloud along with the darkness, yet it gave light at night. Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD swept the sea back by a strong east wind all night and turned the sea into dry land (Ex. 14:19-21).
All night long, through the darkness, God was at work. All that the children of Israel could see was darkness; all that they could hear was the wind howling. Yet daybreak came and so did their deliverance.
Dear saint, if we endure hardship or persecution or difficulty, in due time, our requests will be answered. God will show up. What seems to be an earthly intangible will be God’s heavenly tangible.
There standing at the water’s edge, Moses, the wonderful spiritual talking head said, The LORD will fight for you while you keep silent (Ex. 14:14).
Do not fear! Stand by and see the salvation of the LORD which He will accomplish for you (Ex. 14:13).
